Jasafar is a group of players who create the music they feel. We play original material in the blues vein – music that reflects urban life in the new millennium.
Jasafar grew from a basement band of three musicians to its current group of five. This was a process of growth and change over a period of several years. We are a band of musicians from diverse backgrounds who have developed a sound which each member uses to express them individually, creating a sound that is unique to the band.
Jasafar is influenced by Muddy Waters and the Chicago Blues movement of the early 1950’s and 60’s. Our lead singer was influenced by such artists as Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Co Co Taylor, and Etta James.
